Nieuws MEDEDELING !!

Omschrijving | Coral Caves were born in Palermo in 2001 but only
in 2006 they independently released their first EP
entitled “Coral Caves promo 2006” containing 4
songs.
The work received positive feedback and in 2008
their first album “Mitopoiesi” was released by
Mellow Records.
“Mitopoiesi” was a record in Italian that took up
the songs of the EP and others, representing a bit
of the summa of the band’s production up to that
moment.
The reactions to the record were positive and the
Coral Caves have received numerous positive
reviews that are mentioned in the books “Italian
Progressive Rock, by Andrea Parenti”, “Palermo at
the Time of Vinyl by Daniele Sabatucci” and
“Italian Progressive Rock 1980-2013 by Massimo
Salari”.
In 2016 Pietro Saviano meets the drummer and
friend Luca Di Salvo who encourages him to recover
the existing tracks (recorded in previous years),
complete them and develop others framing
everything in an organic and conceptual work. Thus
was born the seed that germinated in the album
“Journey to the End of the Light”.
To achieve this goal Pietro Saviano involves
numerous other musicians who had already spent
time with the band, making the formation fluid and
open, but always faithful to the band’s past.
Hence the addition of “Project” to the original
name.
The new album, this time sung in English, is
now ready for release in October 2022.
It is divided into three parts: the first is a
suite inspired by the novel “Journey to the End of
the Night” by L.F. Celine; the second is made up
of “lost and found” pieces; the third one instead
foresees an elaboration of two present covers:
“Here comes the flood” by Peter Gabriel and
“Lavender” by Marillion.
From a musical point of view, the group intended
to make the arrangements more dry, reducing the
number of overdubs and thus devoting greater
attention to individual sounds. The atmospheres
are sometimes dark and mysterious, sometimes Latin
and funkish, in some ways dreamlike and in others
psychedelic, thanks also to a series of mixes and
contaminations of different styles and genres
which, ultimately, define the genetic code of
progressive rock. .
The Coral Caves sound is inspired by prog classics
such as Premiata Forneria Marconi, Camel, ELP,
obviously Genesis, Pink Floyd and rock pillars
such as Doors and Santana, but also by the great
Italian songwriters, Lucio Battisti among all. |
