Door de Brexit komen titels die uit de UK afkomstig zijn nog altijd
met vertraging binnen. Soms valt het mee en duurt het slechts 2-3
weken, maar het komt helaas ook voor dat we 4 weken of meer moeten
wachten. We doen ons best om alles zo goed en snel mogelijk te
regelen, maar het blijft lastig...

| Omschrijving | The atmospheric, cinematic gloom the collective
creates will delight superfans and new listeners
alike. Lifeson and Curran`s longstanding
friendship was what sparked the band`s formation -
but Envy Of None isn`t defined by their members`
resumes - they`re not Rush or Coney Hatch and far
greater than the sum of their parts. Floating
above the beautiful cacophony of guitars, synths,
bass and drums are the fragile melodies of 24-
year-old singer Maiah Wynne - the newest addition
to Envy Of None`s impressive roster. Hearing
Maiah`s voice pour into the music brings back
memories, like hearing Garbage`s Shirley Manson or
Evanescence`s Amy Lee for the first time. Wynne
brings charm and beauty galore to these recordings
- with floating hooks and soulful lyrics that
transcend the often textural aesthetic. The Storm
Thorgerson-esque imagery gracing the cover may
remind fans of Lifeson`s earlier work - Andy
Curran explains: "The Hipgnosis-style artwork on
albums like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and others
was so bold, surreal and attention-grabbing that
"We wanted to emulate exactly that. We were
immediately drawn to the photography and design by
Lebanese photographer Eli Rezkallah at Plastik. We
fell in love with a bunch of his work - we had a
hard time deciding on one because he had so much
great pictures". But the `70s prog/rush
comparisons might end with the artwork - this
ensemble`s music breaks new ground with every
track of their 42-minute debut, from
industrial/electronic influences to post-
progressive soundscapes. Envy Of None create a
sound that haunts, comforts and ignites. "If you
imagine Massive Attack with a bit of electronics
and Nine Inch Nails influences, with this
beautiful, fragile, sweet voice and some very,
very dark, heavy sounds. |
