Door de Brexit komen titels die uit de UK afkomstig zijn nog altijd
met vertraging binnen. Soms valt het mee en duurt het slechts 2-3
weken, maar het komt helaas ook voor dat we 4 weken of meer moeten
wachten. We doen ons best om alles zo goed en snel mogelijk te
regelen, maar het blijft lastig...

| Omschrijving | British melodic prog rockers The Gift have
announced their new album, Antenna. The new album,
the band‘s fourth, will be released through Bad
Elephant on June 28, 2019. Vocalist Mike Morton
describes Antenna as “…rockier, more contemporary
sounding - we wanted to do something more direct
and punchy. Whilst there’s no concept, a lot of
Antenna is about how difficult it is to
communicate, how we’re sending out messages and
they don’t hit the target”. Antenna is the follow
up to 2016‘s Why the Sea is Salt, of which prog
Magazine wrote “…an album of beautifully
constructed musical journeys”. Three years in the
making, The Gift‘s forthcoming new album ‘Antenna‘
may surprise a few people. Long seen as a
progressive rock band with overtones of the 70s
Golden Era, the writers in The Gift have (in fact)
always just focused on writing the best songs they
can. Whether they turned out long-form or not was
of less importance to them they just went where
the
muse took them. Sure, they have crafted a fair few
epics in the past, but these were always balanced
by more immediate numbers. For the band, memorable
melodies and lyrics of substance have always
eclipsed ‘showboating‘ or technicality. This time
around the template is even more direct. Most of
the tracks are notably shorter, with The Gift
aiming to make their point in 5 minutes or less
(in
most cases). In addition, the band have let their
hair down (well..those that still have it)and
decided to ‘rock out‘. Already described by Martin
Hutchison as "a thunderous record". ‘Antenna‘ is
all about power, emotions and big riffs. |
